Director elections take place at the Annual Meeting in October. In accordance with Dixie Electric’s bylaws, candidates may petition for election to the board. Candidates seeking election to represent their district on the board of directors for Dixie Electric must visit the Dixie Electric headquarters office at 1863 Highway 184, Laurel, Miss., and obtain a Director Qualification Packet during normal business hours between June 1 and July 29. The forms and petitions in the packet must be completed and returned by the close of business on the date specified each year.
Voting
Voting for director elections takes place via mail, email, through the SmartHub app, in-office, and in person at the Annual Meeting. Members have four options for voting in director elections:
- Online ballot or proxy
- Mail-in ballot or proxy
- In-office proxy
- In-person at the Annual Meeting
Director Election Process
Directors are elected on a rotating basis for three-year terms.
- NOMINATION. To be eligible to be a nominee for a director or to become or remain a director, a member must adhere to the guidelines listed in SECTION 4.03 of Dixie Electric’s bylaws.
- PETITION. Members, including those serving as incumbent directors, seeking to be nominated for election to the board, must submit a written petition of at least 25 or more members of Dixie Electric whose service address is in the same district as the petitioner’s service address.
- VOTE. Candidates who meet the necessary qualifications will be placed on the ballot to be voted on by the membership. The candidate with the most votes will be appointed to the board of directors.
