SAFETY PROGRAM
I. OBJECTIVES
A. To set forth the intentions of the Board of Directors regarding safe working conditions for all employees in order to safeguard their lives, the lives of others, and to protect system property and the property of others.
B. To assure that adequate guidelines and controls exist in the area of safety to aid in achieving the best possible safety record and the prevention of accidents.
II. POLICY CONTENT
The Board of Directors of Dixie Electric Power Association, hereinafter referred to as the Association, has resolved that the statements contained in the following paragraphs define their intentions with regard to the safety program of the Association.
The Association will carry out a continuing program of on-the-job safety which will include, but not be limited to the following:
A. Safety Equipment: Protective safety equipment will be provided to all system personnel in accordance with the needs of each in- dividual’s position in the organization. Equipment to be of such type as is approved by safety engineers for its particular application and laboratory tested.
B. Safety Regulations: Written guides for safety will be provided which will include such safety regulations as are necessary to assure correct work practices as it relates to safety and meets Office of Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requirements, and these regulations will be adhered to.
C. Safety Training: Planned on-the-job training and regularly scheduled safety meetings will be carried out as a part of the continuing safety program.
D. Cooperation with Other Agencies: The Association will cooperate with all agencies interested in the promotion of safety and safe working practices and exchange information which will be mutually beneficial in the area of safety and safe working practices.
III. RESPONSIBILITY
A. It shall be the responsibility of the General Manager to administer this policy and to establish the necessary controls to keep the Board of Directors adequately informed in the area of safety.
The General Manager shall include cost of carrying out the safety program in the annual operating budget for the Association.
